The Indian government is actively promoting digital literacy with initiatives such as Digital Bharat and Technological Inclusion in rural areas with the aim to eliminate the Digital Divide. It is stated that Skill development and creating skilled talent is an important mission to ensure the growth of India by providing with the trained and skilled manpower that Industry requires.

As part of this endeavor, and to equip the children and youth in remote/rural areas and slums with computer skills so that they become digital literate and compete with others on job opportunities, Sevabharat has started Digital Learning Centers across India.

In these centers, the children are given free access to explore and learn basic features like how to operate the keyboard and mouse, create folders and files, play audio-video files, change settings of Windows etc. to advanced topics such as accounting software, Web designing, Programming/Coding etc. The basic idea is to encourage children to learn about the computers by exploring them with unrestricted access to the lab.
